Throughout the 15th and 16th centuries, New York State was in a constant state of expansion. Six explorers were the main reason for this growth: Christopher Columbus, John Cabot, Samuel de Champlain, Jacques Cartier, Henry Hudson, and Giovanni da Verrazano. These six men not only helped expand their countries empires, but helped New York become the state that it is today.
As per the New York State social studies curriculum, 4th grade students must study the explorers that were important to the state's expansion and growth. This WebQuest helps our students meet this requirement while also teaching them the important information skills that they will need throughout their school career.
